Atp British Military 1940'S Wrist Watch

1920 - 1940
Description

The Army Trade Pattern (ATP) watches were standard-issue timepieces for British military personnel during World War II. Introduced in 1939, these watches were designed to meet the British Army's need for reliable and durable timekeeping devices.

The British Army needed watches for its troops fighting overseas. They acquired watches from many brands under the new Army Trade Pattern or A.T.P. These watches were often civilian watches slightly modified to meet the hurried specification issued by the British Army. This is a civilian watch issued with Army paybook ref engraved on caseback quite a rare occurrence as the watch finish is to retail standard and not military.

Measuring 31mm diameter and 38mm lug to lug. Stainless steel case with screwback. Mid case composite chrome base metal bezel.

15 Jewel unsigned Miscellaneous Swiss made.

Dial has discoloured naturally over the years and plexiglass shows dome damage between 10 and 11.

Our View - A beautiful piece of British history

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
