Description

This gorgeous and delightfully shaped Irish all iron Bed would make a lovely bed for a main bedroom, guest room, or, due to the lovely low/no end design, a great choice for smaller attic rooms or rooms with a view, generally for those who would like the comfort of a king size, without the ‘bulk’ of a foot end. Very nice details in the castings and clamps.

Whole frame shot blasted and primed prior to hand pant finish in Little Greene’s Portland Sage colour, gently mid waxed and buffed well to protect and shine.

Head Height 126cm

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. FAQs

Iron and brass bedsteads gained widespread popularity during the Victorian era due to advancements in industrial manufacturing and a growing focus on domestic hygiene compared to traditional wooden beds.

These pieces were typically constructed using malleable iron, cast iron components, and sometimes brass fittings or mounts, often finished with protective layers of paint or japan enamel.

Authentic period pieces often feature hand-poured iron joints, traditional wedge-lock fixings, minor surface irregularities from early casting methods, and aged patination beneath modern paint layers.

Pair the metal framework with neutral linen bedding, natural wood flooring, and minimalist lighting to balance the industrial heritage of the piece with contemporary comfort.

Maintain the frame by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and periodically checking structural joints and fixings to ensure stability.
