Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tekke Turkmen main carpets are hand-woven textiles created by nomadic Tekke tribes of Central Asia, historically used as primary floor coverings within traditional dwellings. They are characterised by repeating octagonal motifs known as guls arranged in precise grid patterns on a rich red or deep terracotta ground.

These carpets were traditionally hand-knotted using finely spun wool for both the pile and the foundation, incorporating asymmetric knots to achieve dense weave counts. Natural plant and insect dyes, such as madder root for deep reds and indigo for dark blues, were used to colour the yarns prior to weaving.

Authentic 19th-century examples display slight variations in weave and dye shades, known as abrash, alongside flexible, soft wool foundations rather than stiff synthetic backings. The presence of traditional design elements, such as distinct gul variations and hand-woven elem end panels, also indicates authenticity.

A Tekke carpet provides visual warmth and historical context when placed on hardwood or stone floors in contemporary, traditional, or eclectic settings. Its rich geometric patterns contrast effectively with minimalist neutral furniture, dark leather upholstery, or natural wood tones.

Regular gentle vacuuming without a rotating beater bar prevents dust accumulation within the pile without damaging the hand-spun fibres. Professional specialist cleaning and the placement of a high-quality rug underlay are recommended to preserve structural integrity and protect against wear.
