Large Plaster Composition Of A Classical Maiden With Plinth, C.1900

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Harrington Antiques

A large plaster composition of a classical maiden holding a wreath with later olive-painted wooden plinth, circa. late 19th/early 20th century.

The figure is crisply cast and of good proportions at just under four foot in height. There is damage to the left ''wreath-holding'' arm; this is not visible when the figure is viewed from the front (as concealed by the wreath) and the arm remains stable with no movement.

The later plinth has some blossoming and scuffs/marks throughout but displays well.

Provenance: Private collection of the late Simon Scott-Brown (artist and interior designer). Please see photographs for an image showing this model in his living room at East Down Manor, Devon.
