Rams Head Antiques has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The weaving process is carried out manually by a skilled artisan known as a lissier or weaver. The loom used for Aubusson tapestry is positioned horizontally, and the weaver works on the reverse side of the tapestry, meticulously bringing the design to life.

This tapestry carpet has a beautiful colour palette of rich russet, warm sand and ivory. The design is very typical of Aubussons with a central ornate medallion of naturalistic flowers and acanthus scrolls enclosed by spandrels and garland borders.
The carpet is in really excellent ready to use condition. It is a great room size measuring 363 cms by 270 cms
