Antique silver Oreba pocket watch, 1923.

The watch has a 15-jewel (3 adjustments) stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Oreba name, a brand name first registered in 1910 by Camille Barré of Fabrique de montres Lion.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and has a screw-on bezel and case back. The inner case back has hallmarks for Birmingham 1923 with a maker’s mark for the Birmingham case maker Aaron Dennison. The case is in good condition with just slight unevenness to the back. Nice engine turned detail to the back with a vacant cartouche to the centre.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, Pollock Bros, Larne. At the time the jewellers was owned by Miss Pollock and her brothers who lived above the shop. The dial is in good condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
