Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 19th century, large copper vessels were primarily used as wash boilers, jam pans, or storage containers for water and firewood. Over time, their durable metal construction made them ideal for re-use as log holders and garden planters.

Traditional copper bins were handcrafted using hammered sheets of copper joined with dovetailed seam joints or heavy rivets. They frequently feature hand-forged iron drop handles or wrought iron rims to support substantial weight.

Authentic 19th-century copper vessels display irregular hand-hammered mark impressions, heavy gauge metal, and dovetailed or riveted joining seams rather than modern seamless welds. They also exhibit natural surface patination, including verdigris inside where moisture has oxidized the copper.

An antique copper bin can be positioned beside a hearth to store firewood or utilised in a sunroom as a large container for indoor trees and foliage. It can also function as an entryway storage vessel for umbrellas or walking sticks.

To maintain the historical patination and green verdigris, dust the exterior with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners. If used as a plant holder, line the interior with a waterproof insert to prevent further accelerated oxidisation from standing water.
