A late 19th century, French, ormolu fire screen in the Louis XV style. The crisply cast shaped cartouche frame cast with scrolling acanthus leaves, the base centred with a shell. Retaining the original gilding.
Maison Bouhon Frčres was an important French producer of fine fireplace tools in the nineteenth and twentieth century. Once known as Maison Clavier, Maison Bouhon Frčres was already a well-established and reputable firm by 1900, known for their fine bronze and wrought iron fire accessories. Their premise was located at 12 rue Debelleyme, in the Marais in Paris.
A more elaborate version of this screen was made by Bouhon for François Linke.
