A Fine Antique Mahogany Side Cabinet (Circa 1835)

19th century
Sold by Culvertons
Description

The design of this elegant antique mahogany side cabinet (Circa 1835) still reflects the taste of the Late Regency period rather than the flamboyance of what was to follow. This restraint and eye for the aesthetic shown by the original cabinet maker, drew me towards this piece when I first came across it in a private Surrey residence. Its narrow drawers complement rather than dominate, a design feature reminiscent of this period. The subtle scrolled carved corbels and feet, and the flame-cut gothic arch-paneled doors (key supplied) are all elements that suggest quality and refinement. The small basket design brass knobs are later sympathetic replacements but otherwise its in excellent original condition. So, now it has been traditionally restored, we can offer you a very appealing and practical two-hundred-year-old mahogany side cabinet that has been designed and crafted with thought and precision, for, what we think, compared with the modern equivalent, is bewilderingly good value.

Dealers Notes

Whenever possible Culvertons undertake the carriage of items within London and the home counties. Professional, competitive and trusted couriers and shipping companies are engaged for deliveries for the remainder of our customers. Smaller items, when instructed, will be carefully parcelled and securely sent by the carrier.

We strive to accurately describe and illustrate our stock on the 'Selling Antiques' website. However, we understand that it is not always possible to judge from photographs how an item will look in the home or garden. For this reason, if notified within seven days from the date of delivery we offer a full refund (less any agreed carriage costs) once the item has been returned in the same condition as it left our premises.
