A supremely comfortable Knoll sofa, in faded red velvet. The two feather filled cushions sit on a sprung base.
The 17th/18th Century silk needle work back panel has decorative patterns of flowers and trees, with a scalloped bottom edge. It is worked with coloured gold and silver threads and is possibly Italian.
There are four finials which hold the sides up with silk braided ropes terminating in the most wonderfully decorated sculptural tassels.
Provence: The sofa was purchased in the 1920''s from Harrods and has then been passed on through three generations.
The sofa is 100 years old and the silk needle work panel much older, so wear is commensurate with age.
