Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 1920s.

The dramatic rural landscape features a typical rural France, probably Provence scene with cubist rocks set beneath a leaden sky, in contrast to the highlighted, colourful foreground applied in an impressionist style.., a combination of early 20th century techniques explored and experimented during this period by the Paris School artists around Montparnasse and Montmatre, Paris, the Ecole de Montmatre.

The oil on canvas landscape is signed to the lower right, the name isn’t distinguishable and therefore no research evidence of the artist.
Occupying an exquisite hand carved frame of the period, a solid wood frame of considerable quality, not a gesso example.
