FAQs

The Spinario, depicting a boy extracting a thorn from his foot, is a famous Hellenistic and Roman bronze sculpture that inspired numerous copies and reinterpretations throughout the centuries, particularly during the neoclassical and Edwardian periods.

Edwardian decorative sculptures were frequently cast in plaster, composition material, or terracotta, and often finished with bronze-effect paint or patination to emulate more costly metals.

Authentic pieces from this period typically exhibit period-appropriate surface wear, craquelure or ageing in the finish, traditional casting seams, and materials consistent with early 20th-century manufacturing techniques.

Plaster figures add an architectural and historical focal point when placed on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or desk, contrasting effectively against contemporary minimalist or traditional decor.

Plaster is porous and water-soluble, so it should be cleaned exclusively using a dry, soft-bristled brush or microfiber cloth, avoiding all liquid cleaners, moisture, and direct sunlight.
