A superb antique William IV period compactum wardrobe in mahogany. This was made in England & dates from around the 1830-1840’s period.
This is of amazing quality and is a most impressive piece. There are two tall sentry box style hanging compartments on either side of a large bank of generous drawers. The flame mahogany panelled doors have beautifully carved baluster rails going down the sides, with incredibly fine details. This sits on an inverted breakfront plinth base and the top has a beautifully moulded cornice. The central bank of drawers are adorned with a stunning shell carved pediment.
The mahogany has a gorgeous rich colour tone and wonderful grain patterns. We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age. There are various small marks and indentations here and there under the polish, commensurate for age.
This breaks down into six smaller sections for ease of transport, when assembled this is a very large item with lots of storage space for clothes.
