FAQs

Georgian furniture, produced during the reigns of Kings George I to IV, is characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and the transition from walnut to mahogany as the primary timber.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid mahogany or oak with hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer boxes and applied brass hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, secondary woods consistent with the period, and handmade iron or brass fixings rather than modern machine screws.

Pairing classical wooden furniture with minimalist modern decor and neutral walls creates a balanced interior scheme that highlights the rich grain of the timber.

Maintain timber furniture by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and applying beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
