A seal top spoon features a terminal shaped like a flat-topped seal, commonly used in England from the late Tudor period through the mid-17th century.

These items were typically cast in brass or latten using traditional sand-casting or mould techniques, often hand-finished with touchmarks or makers initials stamped on the bowl or terminal.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate tool marks, natural metal oxidisation, correct alloy composition, and historically consistent typography for makers marks or initials.

Such historical objects look striking when mounted in a shadow box frame, displayed on a dedicated display stand within a bookcase, or curated among objects of curiosity on a mantelpiece.

Antique metalware should be cleaned minimally with a soft, dry cloth to preserve its historical patina. Harsh chemical polishes or abrasive materials must be avoided to prevent damage to the surface.
