M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the Regency era.
Double-sided mahogany writing table , each side fitted with 3 mahogany-lined , ‘cock-beaded’ drawers , all retaining their original turned mahogany knob-pull handles and fitted with brass locks and escutcheons.

The corners of the table with flame mahogany veneered panel reserves or tablets , having a reeded moulding around the lower edge .
The top with a reeded edge surround . Having a faded blind-tooled leather inset writing surface within the broad mahogany band , which would benefit perhaps from re-colouring or replacing.

In excellent, original fresh-to-market ‘dry’ condition, retaining its original polish and surface . Has achieved a desirable rich colour and patina.
The table bears many of the attributes of the esteemed cabinet-making firm Gillows of Lancaster.
