This Edwardian French bed has an upholstered walnut frame with warm brown wood tones and pale beige linen headboard and footboard panels. Decorative details include fluted corner posts with turned finials, rosette carvings, and brass stud detailing along the upholstery trim. The bed is accompanied by two pink cushions and two patterned scatter cushions with floral motifs, plus two glass bottles positioned near the footboard. Practical in size, it measures 120 cm high, 147 cm wide, and 202 cm deep, designed for a 140x190 cm mattress. Suitable for a bedroom, the piece functions well as a classic focal point in a traditional or French chateau interior scheme. The combination of carved wooden framework and neutral upholstered panels provides a versatile foundation for various bedroom linen colours and interior styling approaches.

FAQs

Louis XVI style bed frames are defined by neoclassical proportions, straight geometric lines, fluted turned legs, and classical motifs such as carved floral rosettes and pinecone finials.

Traditional French upholstered bedsteads are constructed using hardwoods such as walnut, oak, or beech for the frame, paired with woven linen or velvet upholstery held in place with individual brass studs.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved joinery marks, traditional mortise-and-tenon construction, aged wood patina, and signs of hand-tacked fabric attachment along the interior channels.

Combine the warm timber and neutral fabric panels with crisp white bed linens, textured wool throws, and modern lighting to create a refined balance between heritage craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.

Dust the carved wooden frame regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth, apply natural beeswax sparingly to preserve the timber finish, and gently vacuum fabric panels using a soft brush attachment.
