Naive school paintings are characterised by a rejection of formal academic perspective and proportions, often created by self-taught or provincial artists with a focus on directness and charm.

Watercolours should be displayed away from direct sunlight and high humidity, using acid-free mounting materials and UV-protective glazing to prevent fading.

Pairing historical naive portraits with minimalist or modern decor creates a striking contrast that highlights the character and narrative of the artwork.

Authenticity is assessed through paper ageing characteristics, pigment analysis, framing construction, and the presence of period mount boards or backing materials.

These works typically utilise watercolour pigments applied to woven paper or card, often housed within period wooden frames with hand-finished details.
