This Chinese teapot exemplifies traditional cloisonne enamel work from the mid-twentieth century. The piece takes a hexagonal form, pairing a deep navy blue ground with intricate gold-toned wirework detailing. Polished brass mounts frame the vessel, including a fitted domed lid topped with a rounded finial, an overhead arched handle attached by small side loops, and an upward-curving spout. Delicate floral motifs, including pale plum blossoms, wind across the blue enamel body and along the spout. Gilt borders edge both the hexagonal base and the rim of the body, providing a bright contrast against the dark enamel finish. The item measures Height 8 cm x Width 7.5 cm. Placed upon a sideboard top in a living space, the teapot serves as a decorative display object.

Cloisonne is an ancient metalworking technique where thin metal wires are soldered onto a metal object to form compartments, which are then filled with coloured enamel paste and fired.

Traditional cloisonne pieces are constructed using a base of copper or brass, fine gilded copper or brass wires to form the outlines, and vitreous enamel paste.

Authentic pieces feature hand-applied wirework with slight variations, solid metal weight, exposed gilded rims, and smooth, fired vitreous enamel finishes rather than painted resin.

Display the teapot on a sideboard, bookshelf, or open kitchen shelves alongside brass accents or minimalist ceramics to highlight its detailed enamel patterns.

Dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners, prolonged moisture exposure, or abrasive materials that could scratch the enamel or strip the gilding.
