FAQs

Iron beds gained widespread popularity during the Victorian era following the Industrial Revolution, when mass production techniques made metal fabrication more accessible and hygienic for domestic use.

These beds typically combine cast iron components for structural strength with tubular wrought iron frames, often joined using tapered dovetail joints or heavy-duty bolts.

Authentic period pieces often feature hand-poured iron details, visible casting seams, authentic hand-painted finishes, and non-standard sizing that requires bespoke mattress solutions.

Pairing the metallic frame with soft, neutral textiles, crisp linen bedding, and contrasting natural wood furniture creates a balanced aesthetic that bridges historic charm and contemporary minimalism.

Maintenance involves dusting with a dry cloth and addressing any surface oxidisation gently with specialised metal wax, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that can strip original finishes.
