Antique Yomut Turkmen 'kap' or mafrash, small storage bag, complete with plain weave back.

Circa 1880.

This small Yomut Turkmen bag known as a 'kap' or mafrash, was used for keeping personal belongings in, it was usually hung up inside the yurt. This example is of a scarce square lattice design, only a few examples of this design are recorded.

The bag is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile, the original ivory plain weave back is in excellent condition.
