Art Deco silvered and Gilt bronze figure of a Dancer holding a gold coloured scarf. Very finely cast and hand finished with superb detail. The dancer stands on tiptoe with one leg outstretched and elegantly holds the draped scarf in each hand. It stands on a shaped marble base and is signed Guerval to the marble. Guerval was a pseudonym of Raymonde Guerbe. It has a foundry seal for LNJL Foundry Paris to the underside of the base. Born in Paris in 1894 she was a multi talented artist who worked in many media including bronze, terracotta and ceramics. She was a student of Dance in 1919 in Paris and was taught by Isadora Duncan and her brother Raymond. She exhibited at the Salon d’Automn from 1923-1927 and 1934, 1936 1938.
