Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Caucasian Erivan rugs originate from the Caucasus region and are known for their bold geometric patterns, distinctive lobed medallions, and vibrant natural dyes. Woven predominantly by Armenian artisans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these textiles feature durable wool construction and stylized tribal motifs.

Historically, Caucasian rugs were hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and the underlying foundation. Dyes were derived from natural vegetable and mineral sources, such as indigo for dark blues and madder root for deep reds.

Authentic 1920s Caucasian rugs exhibit characteristic hand-knotted wool construction, flexible handles, and subtle variations in symmetry typical of village looms. Inspecting the underside reveals clear knot definitions, natural colour abrash tonal shifts, and wool warp threads.

A tribal geometric rug introduces rich texture and historic character when positioned on neutral timber or polished stone flooring. Its structured palette pairs effectively with minimalist mid-century furniture or classic dark academia schemes.

Vacuum gently without a rotating brush attachment to prevent fibre damage, and rotate the carpet annually to ensure uniform wear and light exposure. Professional washing by an antique textile conservator is recommended to safeguard the wool pile and vegetable dyes.
