A lovely antique concave mahogany chest of drawers in the Georgian style. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1930’s.

It is beautifully designed and is of very good quality. The concave shaped front gives it a very interesting look, it sits on short fluted legs and has intricate detailed mouldings around the top edge. There is plenty of storage space and this is a nice slim and tall shape.

We have had this re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Georgian furniture is characterised by classical proportions, symmetrical designs, and the predominant use of fine timbers such as mahogany, reflecting the architectural influences of the period.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, solid timber drawer linings, and traditional mortise and tenon framing.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain, checking for hand-cut joinery, observing natural oxidisation and wear consistent with age, and inspecting original brass hardware or handle marks.

An antique chest creates a strong focal point in a contemporary room when paired with minimalist surroundings, modern abstract art above, or neutral walls to highlight the rich wood grain.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying pure beeswax.
