A bow-front chest of drawers features a convex, curved front profile that became particularly popular during the Georgian and Regency periods, offering a softer aesthetic and increased internal volume compared to flat-fronted pieces.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods and veneers such as mahogany, often accented with boxwood stringing, brass ring handles, and oak secondary timbers used for drawer linings.

Authenticity is determined by examining hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed secondary woods, original brass hardware, patination on the timber, and traditional construction methods consistent with the period.

A traditional mahogany chest provides a rich grounding element in modern spaces; pair it with minimalist artwork, contemporary lighting, or neutral walls to create a balanced transitional aesthetic.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and nourish the wood periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
