18th Century French Walnut Settee with Needlepoint Upholstery

Description

A Mid 18th Century French Walnut Settee Upholstered in Exceptional Needlework.

This beautiful, shapely settee with its nine cabriole legs, camel back and delicately carved serpentine rails and arm rests is a great example of late rococo period furniture from France. There is figural embroidery in petit point to the centre of the back showing a gentleman drumming and a lady dancing to his tune. There are also exotic birds to the centre seat and lions rampant to the outsides of the arms. There is needlework on the outsides of the arm rests as well as the inside.
