Fruit still life paintings originate from classical artistic traditions, particularly popularised during the Dutch Golden Age and Victorian era, focusing on composition, light contrast, and representations of nature.

These artworks generally feature oil pigments on stretched linen or cotton canvas, housed in timber frames often finished with decorative wood veneers such as maple or walnut.

Authentic oil paintings display raised brushwork, textured paint application, and surface craquelure under close inspection, along with structural signs of aging on the canvas reverse.

A dark classical still life creates a central focus when hung above a wooden sideboard, dining room mantelpiece, or integrated into a curated gallery wall in a traditional space.

Dust the canvas and frame gently using a soft, dry brush, keeping the artwork away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and chemical cleaners to prevent fading and cracking.
