This is an exhibition quality antique English 4½ft wide freestanding Edwardian red walnut roll top desk, with twin pedestals, by Angus of London, circa 1910, boasting a comprehensive interior, in excellent original condition. It is rare to see rolltop desks made from red walnut; they are usually made from oak or mahogany and it makes this Edwardian roll top a very sought-after office desk.
The desk has been constructed from the best quality red walnut and the exterior of the desk features well-pronounced fielded (bevel edged) walnut panels. The number of small drawers within the top section of the desk denotes the quality of the desk and status of its owner. This desk features 12 internal drawers and 13 pigeonholes to the top section.

This is an exhibition quality antique English 4½ft wide freestanding Edwardian red walnut roll top desk, with twin pedestals, by Angus of London, circa 1910, boasting a comprehensive interior, in excellent original condition. The desk has been cleaned and F

Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant considering its age. There are no ink or water stains or scratches to the main desk-top. There are old use marks to the tops of the writing slide supports and insides of the drawers (see photos) and plinths. The tambour incorporates a working barrel lock, with a working key. When the sliding tambour is pulled down and secured using the lock, this will lock the drawers in the pedestals below. There are no splits in the tambour (which again, is common in these types of desks).
The roll top desk retains all its internal brass label holders and turned knobs. While none of the original labels survive, an updated, extended set of labels has been produced to fit the label holders; these are brand new and free from damage. It is rare to see an Edwardian rolltop desk displaying such quality in such good condition. This pedestal desk is well made, solid in joint and ready to use.
