A very fine antique Shirvan prayer rug, tightly knotted with a beautiful drawn lattice containing shrubs, amulets and many filler elements woven in perhaps 12 glowing natural dyes. An exquisite and very generous golden mihrab adorning the top of this sublime piece. Even low pile, a few small old repairs, 2 small old repaired cuts to the bottom and one to the top. Unusually the ends and sides are original. A early rug in rare squarish format that should excite the connoisseur. Circa 1850
