A tribal antique Bakshaish carpet woven around 150 years ago dating from circa 1870-80 with a large scale border design with well drawn leaves and rosette floral motifs.  The biscuit toned central medallion area is a dye used more over by the weavers of Bakshaish and Sarab.  The pale blue four corner spandrels are electric and stunning dyes, varied and really showcase their dying prowess as well as the large geometric leaf and tribal motifs in the corners.A fantastic tribal carpet in excellent original condition, the wool pile is medium high throughout this piece.Among the oversized carpets made in Persia, antique Bakshaish  carpets are in a class by themselves.
