Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Jugendstil was the German counterpart to Art Nouveau, flourishing between 1890 and 1910 with a focus on organic forms and nature-inspired motifs. Manufacturers like Kayserzinn produced decorative cast pewter items featuring stylized plant motifs such as mistletoe.

These pieces were cast using pewter, a metal alloy composed primarily of tin combined with small amounts of copper or antimony. Lead-free alloys were developed during this period to enhance durability and produce a soft satin finish.

Authentic pieces typically bear stamped touchmarks on the base, including the manufacturer name and a four-digit design model number. The casting displays signature Art Nouveau characteristics such as flowing lines, integral handles, and low-relief floral patterns.

Position the vessel as a standalone focal piece on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or sideboard alongside natural wood or stone elements. Its matte grey tone complements minimalist surfaces and dark background palettes.

Dust the vessel regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and wash occasionally with mild soapy water if necessary. Avoid abrasive polishes or chemical cleaners that strip the natural grey patina developed over time.
