The pacing bull model originates from the workshop of the late Renaissance sculptor Giambologna, created during the late sixteenth or early seventeenth century and frequently recast in subsequent centuries.

These figures are typically produced using the lost-wax casting method (cire perdue), resulting in a solid bronze sculpture finished with a dark chemical patination.

Authentication relies on examining the quality of the chisel work, the depth and colour of the patination, tool marks consistent with period metalworking, and casting seams typical of early workshop practices.

Placing the sculpture on a desk, bookshelf, or mantelpiece adds architectural weight and classic character, contrasting effectively with minimalist modern surfaces.

Bronze should be dusted gently with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally treated with microcrystalline wax to protect the patination from moisture and handling oils.
