Japanese Bronze Bird Censer,C1880

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Curious Antiques

Late 19th century Japanese bronze censer,c1880. It is of unusual figural form depicting a bird perched on a Lilly pad ready to pounce on any passing fish. The wings remove to allow access to the void where one would place incense. Well cast the features, feathers and decoration are finely depicted with good crisp detail .The bronze has taken on good colour/patina following years of use. There appears to be a small historic repair to the underside of the base but overall condition is very good. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me if you would like to view the item or have any questions.
