Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Ceramic washstand sets, comprising a large pitcher and basin, were essential bedroom accessories for personal hygiene before indoor plumbing became standard in residential properties during the mid-20th century.

These sets were typically crafted from ceramic earthenware or ironstone, shaped using traditional pottery moulds, and hand-finished or transfer-printed with decorative glazes before undergoing high-temperature kiln firing.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit manufacturer backstamps specific to the period, minor firing imperfections, age-related crazing in the glaze, and traditional weight and thickness characteristic of historical pottery production.

A vintage wash set can be utilised as a decorative statement piece on a sideboard, repurposed to hold dried florals, or displayed prominently within a period-inspired bathroom or hallway setting.

To preserve antique ceramics, wash them gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh scrubbing or abrasive cleaners that can damage the delicate historical glaze and surface patterns.
