Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Northern School movement emerged in twentieth-century Britain, focusing on regional realism, industrial towns, and semi-rural landscapes. Artworks typically utilise a muted, subdued palette to reflect localized weather, topography, and architecture.

Artists during this period primarily worked with oil paints applied directly to stretched cotton or linen canvas, as well as prepared hardboard panels. Paint was often layered using traditional glazing techniques or direct impasto application.

Authentic period works typically exhibit characteristic canvas aging, consistent reverse-side patina, period framing hardware, and organic craquelure within the paint layer. Artist signatures and inscriptions located along the lower margins or verso also assist in verification.

Subdued landscape paintings complement contemporary neutral interiors, industrial spaces, or traditional wooden furniture settings. Hanging the artwork individually as a focal point or incorporating it into a curated gallery wall creates balance.

Keep the painting away from direct sunlight, excess moisture, and fluctuating heat sources to prevent cracking or fading. Dust gently with a clean, dry microfibre cloth and consult a professional conservator for surface cleaning or revarnishing.
