Victorian Mahogany Partners Desk

19th century
Description

Circa 1870. Mid Victorian mahogany three-part partners desk. The top with an insert tooled and gilded leather and moulded fore-edge. The front with three narrow drawers, the outside ones flanked by a bank of three further drawers, graduating from top to bottom, all of the drawers have stylish ebonized turned knobs and proud circular escutcheons. The back has three faux drawers and in the base beneath a pair of hinged cupboards, paneled on all sides the desk is free-standing, beneath the bottom drawer there is a further moulding and all resting on an enclosed plinth with concealed castors beneath.
