A very unusual Victorian Doulton Burslem earthenware cabinet plate. The plate is hand painted with a pair of quail in a landscape setting, the quality of the work is very high. The outer edge of the plate is powder gilt over a dark burgundy colour. The reverse has both the Doulton Burslem impressed mark and a Doulton registration mark. The registration mark dates to 1879. The plate is in excellent condition. The piece is a most unusual one for Doulton and of a high quality with a great decorative appeal.
