Military / Civil Service Mahogany Kneehole Desk, George V, Circa 1930

Description

A George V period, military / civil service mahogany kneehole desk, Circa 1930. Rectangular top with green inset. Flanking the kneehole are a pair of twin drawers, each with brass cup handles, stamped G.R. with crown symbol. The right side drawers with locks. All raised on square tapering legs.

These desks were issued to military bases and civil service offices. This particular desk was acquired from the York area so likely came from one of the local military sites.

A charming desk, well presented, and in very good working condition.

Dimensions:

This desk measures approximately 76.5 cm (30") tall, 152.5 cm (60") wide, and 83.5 cm (32.75") deep. The kneehole measures 53.25 cm (21") tall and 67.5 cm (26.5") wide.

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This desk is in a reasonably good overall condition, commensurate with its age, is structurally very sound and sturdy. Some odd marks and blemishes. One handle missing the original screw. One of the drawers locks is a replacement. Cleaned and waxed. Very serviceable, all in good working order, and ready to use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
