Description

A superb antique mahogany leather top pedestal desk in the Chippendale style. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1880-1900 period.

The quality is outstanding, this has a beautiful and useful design. The top has serpentine and gadrooned edges on the front, back and both sides. With a very wide knee hole space, this sits on bracket feet with brass casters beneath, the drawers have lovely brass handles as well. The drawers with are oak lined, have fine, hand cut dovetailed joints and they all run smoothly. The back is nicely finished, so this can be used as a free standing item. The inset green leather top is hand coloured with tooled edges.

We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age. There is just some minor surface wear and a few small bumps and marks remaining beneath the polish here and there.
