The roots of the impressive Brahetrolleborg Castle date back to the 12th century and it stands amid an estate with various buildings. He married Marie Elisabeth Lorentzen, the estate manager’s daughter, at Brahetrolleborg in 1891 and it remained a place close to his heart.
