Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The tallboy, or high chest of drawers, emerged during the late 17th century and gained popularity through the Georgian era, prized for offering maximum vertical storage space in relatively compact floor footprints.

Authentic pieces typically feature dense hardwoods such as Cuban mahogany or oak, constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers and solid timber secondary woods.

Authentication involves examining hand-beveled drawer edges, irregular dovetailing indicative of hand tools, traditional brass hardware fixings, and natural timber ageing patterns.

Pairing the rich timber tones with neutral wall palettes, minimalist decor, and contemporary lighting creates a balanced contrast that highlights the historic craftsmanship.

Maintain antique wooden surfaces by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying periodic high-quality beeswax, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
