Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian pine dresser base from 1850 has a honey brown finish and a rustic farmhouse style. The piece incorporates three stacked drawers on the left side alongside a single panelled cupboard door on the right, each fitted with round wooden knob handles. It rests on rounded turned feet at the base, and features simple horizontal mouldings along the top edge of the carcase. The timber shows visible grain patterns and knots across the surfaces, consistent with utilitarian country furniture from the mid-nineteenth century. Practical dimensions are 91.5 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. The sideboard functions well in a country kitchen, dining room, or hallway to store tableware and linens while providing a sturdy surface for display.

FAQs

A Victorian pine dresser base is a functional 19th-century storage unit featuring a flat surface above a combination of drawers and cupboards, originally designed for kitchen or dining room utility.

These pieces were typically constructed using solid Scots pine or Baltic pine, featuring hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, timber backboards, and hand-turned wooden knobs.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, period-correct turned feet, natural timber shrinkage gaps on the back or top, and age-consistent wear around the drawer handles.

Place the dresser base in a dining room, kitchen, or wide entryway, balancing the warm wood tones with contemporary ceramics, neutral linen table runners, and modern framed art.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice yearly to protect the timber and preserve its natural grain patina.
