This nineteenth-century oil on canvas by Konstantin Stoitzner presents an academic realism floral study depicting a large arrangement of pink and white flowers placed in a transparent green glass vessel upon a table draped with white linen. The artwork features an ornate silver leaf carved wooden frame displaying intricate scrollwork mouldings, deep relief corner carvings, and a naturally aged patina across its surface. The composition utilises a dark green background palette that contrasts with vibrant floral motifs, a trailing blossom beside the cloth, and visible brushwork details throughout the interior scene. The piece measures 108 cm high, 88 cm wide, and 5 cm deep in practical terms. This framed still life suits placement above a sideboard or console table within an English country house interior, bringing traditional academic artistry and organic botanical subjects to living spaces and reception rooms.

Floral still life painting emerged as an independent genre in the Netherlands during the late sixteenth century and expanded across Europe through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Artists focused on botanical accuracy, light capture, and symbolic compositions representing nature and time.

Paintings from this era typically utilized oil-based pigments applied to stretched linen or cotton canvas. Frames were constructed from carved wood or molded plaster, finished with metallic leaf gilding or silvering and sealed with protective varnish.

Authentic oil paintings show natural age indicators such as craquelure in the varnish layer, canvas oxidation on the reverse, hand-carved or plaster-molded period framing, and genuine artist brushwork signatures.

A traditional floral artwork can be mounted above a contemporary sideboard or fireplace mantel to create visual contrast. Pairing ornate silvered frames with neutral walls and clean-lined furniture balances traditional art within modern spaces.

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight, excess moisture, and sudden temperature fluctuations. Clean dust gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or natural feather duster without applying liquid cleaners.
