This Georgian chest of drawers is fashioned from mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and wax finish. The structure comprises three small upper drawers situated above three full-width graduated drawers. Each drawer front has fine cockbeaded moulding framing the edges, pierced keyhole escutcheons, and polished brass swan-neck swing handles mounted on backplates. The furniture rests upon bracket feet beneath a rectangular top. Measuring 95 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 56 cm deep, this chest provides substantial storage capacity. The traditional form and proportions suit placement in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway as a central storage unit for clothing and linens while complementing classical domestic interiors.

Georgian chests of drawers, produced between 1714 and 1837, are characterized by symmetrical proportions, classic restrained elegance, and functional utility. They typically feature graduated drawer arrangements, cockbeaded drawer edges, and solid bracket feet.

Cabinetmakers predominantly used mahogany timber, prized for its dense grain and rich tone, paired with oak or pine drawer linings. Drawers were hand-dovetailed and completed with brass swan-neck handles and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints with slight irregularities, hand-planed back panels, and natural shrinkage lines along wide timber boards. The brass hardware often shows original cast markings and hand-finished fittings.

Position the piece as a focal point against contemporary neutral walls to contrast its warm timber tones. Complement the chest with minimalist ceramics, modern lighting, or structured artwork to create a balanced design scheme.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
