Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in Britain during the late nineteenth century, the Arts and Crafts movement emphasized handcrafted construction, honest structural elements, and a reaction against industrial mass production. Furniture from this era features clean architectural lines, visible joinery, and functional design influenced by historic folk traditions.

Solid native hardwoods, particularly quartersawn oak, were primary materials due to their durability and pronounced grain patterns. Hardware typically consisted of hand-forged iron or hammered copper, alongside leaded or stained glass panels for glazed doors.

Authentic pieces exhibit construction details such as mortise and tenon joints, dovetail drawers, structural pegs, and hand-fitted ironwork or hinges. Manufacturer marks, such as impressed stamps, metallic plaques, or paper labels from retailers like Liberty & Co., also confirm authenticity.

Position the piece against neutral or deeply toned painted walls to highlight its wood grain and ironwork silhouette. Style open shelving with functional ceramics, studio pottery, or glassware to balance the substantial timber weight with lighter textural elements.

Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber and protect the original finish. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to radiators to prevent warping or splitting, and dust metalwork gently with a dry microfiber cloth without abrasive cleaners.
