This Edwardian chest of drawers dates to 1910 and is an early catalogued design by Ambrose Heal made in warm brown colonial mahogany. The piece takes an Arts and Crafts aesthetic suited to a gentleman's library or study, constructed with four long, graduated drawers featuring moulded edge fronts, all fitted with original flush brass pull handles and central keyhole escutcheons. The case stands on straight, square legs with vertical channel mouldings running up both sides of the front framing. Practical proportions with a height of 91 cm, a width of 76.5 cm, and a depth of 47 cm allow this storage item to sit comfortably in a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway. The traditional design and timber tone blend easily into both period and contemporary interiors while providing functional surface space and drawer storage.

Arts and Crafts chests of drawers emphasise clean lines, functional construction, and natural wood grain, often featuring minimal ornamentation paired with simple or flush-mounted metal hardware.

These pieces are predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, utilizing traditional hand-cut dovetail joints and solid brass hardware.

Authentic pieces are identified through hand-cut dovetailing, solid drawer linings, stamped maker marks or metal badges, and flush brass inset handles.

A solid mahogany chest introduces warmth and texture to modern schemes, serving as a focal storage piece in bedrooms, hallways, or living rooms alongside contemporary art.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth and apply natural beeswax polish along the wood grain periodically, keeping the item away from direct heating sources to prevent wood movement.
