During the 1970s, Longines produced wristwatches featuring distinct case shapes, such as cushion and tonneau forms, executed in precious metals including 9k and 18k gold. These timepieces combined traditional Swiss mechanical movements with elegant, minimalist dials.

Mid-to-late 20th-century gold watches were typically crafted using hallmarked 9k or 18k yellow gold cases, acrylic or mineral crystal lenses, and hand-stitched leather straps. Internal movements featured brass, steel, and synthetic rubies used as jewel bearings.

Authentic pieces feature clear British or Swiss hallmarks stamped on the inside or rear of the gold case, crisp brand typography on the dial, and a signed movement bearing the Longines name and calibre serial number matching the era.

A slim 1970s gold dress watch provides a refined contrast to modern tailored suits, smart-casual jackets, or crisp button-down shirts, serving as an understated personal accessory.

Mechanical watches should be serviced every three to five years by a qualified horologist to lubricate the movement. Keep the case away from water, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields to maintain accurate timekeeping.
