This Sino-Tibetan Buddhist bell dates from 1750 and is formed from warm bronze with an iron attachment ring. The dome-shaped body displays relief lotus petal decoration at the top collar alongside ring stamp motifs. A suspension loop sits atop the dome, fitted with an original metal ring. Signs of age and wear are visible across the metallic surface in the form of subtle weathering, patina variations and oxidation around the lower stepped mouldings. The bell measures 13 cm high and 16 cm wide. It suits placement on a bookshelf in a study or living area as a decorative decorative artefact.

Sino-Tibetan Buddhist bells are traditional ritual objects used in sacred Tibetan Buddhist practices across Tibet and China. They historically served both functional and symbolic purposes, representing wisdom and the female aspect of enlightenment during ceremonial recitations.

These bells are typically cast from bronze or brass metal alloys, formulated to produce a clear sound tone. Additional components, such as attachment loops or clappers, may incorporate forged iron or copper elements.

Authentic examples display traditional lost-wax casting marks, hand-engraved or stamped lotus motifs, and natural age-related oxidisation. Friction wear around the top suspension loops and concentric grooves along the rim also indicate historical usage.

An antique bronze ritual bell functions well as a decorative accent on a curated bookshelf, mantelpiece, or sideboard. Placing it alongside textured ceramics, natural wood objects, or contemporary glass highlights its metallic tone and historical form.

Dust the surface regularly using a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove ambient dirt. Avoid using chemical polishes, solvent cleaners, or abrasive materials that could strip the natural historical patina and surface oxidisation.
