Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A settle bench is a traditional piece of wooden seating featuring a high backrest, solid armrests, and frequently a hinged seat that opens to a storage box, historically crafted to deflect draughts near open hearths.

Country settles were crafted from durable softwoods and hardwoods native to the region, predominantly pine, oak, and elm, assembled with traditional mortise and tenon joinery and wooden pegs.

Authentic pieces feature hand-planed timber surfaces, uneven wear around the armrests, traditional panelled back construction, and natural age-related shrinkage along the timber joins.

Place the settle in a spacious entryway, hallway, or boot room, pairing it with wool cushions and a textured jute rug to balance the warm timber tones with soft contemporary materials.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality clear beeswax polish bi-annually to protect the wood and preserve its natural lustre.
