An Edwardian pocket barometer is a portable meteorological instrument produced during the reign of King Edward VII, roughly between 1901 and 1910, designed for travellers to measure atmospheric pressure and altitude.

These instruments typically feature brass or gilt-metal cases, glass dial covers, white enamel or silvered metal dials with fine engraved markings, and are frequently housed in protective leather-covered wooden cases lined with silk or velvet.

Authentic pieces generally display period-appropriate typography on the enamel dial, hand-engraved scale graduations, mechanical compensation markings, and wear consistent with age on the outer leather casing and metal components.

This type of small collectable object can be displayed open on a desk, within a glass cabinet, or on a mantelpiece to add an element of historic curiosity and academic charm to a study or living space.

Preserve the instrument by keeping it away from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and high humidity, while gently cleaning the metal case with a dry microfibre cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes.
